New Orleans Adventure

This is only half of my pics from New Orleans, check them out and I will continue the post later in the week.  It was truly an adventure where there was so much street style I didn't know where to start but I was on the prowl for fashion subgenres in a single genre city.

Do you think this guy is really preppy or is he just wearing this to work the look. It could just be his style to do it ultra preppy on purpose or could he be a true prepster from the East Coast.  I'd like to believe that his mama raised him to dress this  cute but I am not sure, his look was very refreshing in the sea of wannabe rap stars.

Black and red and white, beautiful never fail color combo, she looks hot.  I like those pants, even though they are just black with a little sheen I think they are probably perfect.

Balenciaga knockoffs, I saw these in the stores too, that was so many seasons ago I think at least two or three I can't believe they are still doing them. I guess I am the only person that knows the originals are so over.

I want these!  They are from Zara and a total Dolce and Gabbana rip off, I personally have tried the DandGs and I think the shape of these is much nicer, rounder and sweeter with a pretty heel.  I wonder if you can get them online...Black booties are everywhere.

This is a cool rainbow version of the fancy pockets just about every dude was wearing.  It was seriously pocket art central, my boyfriend and I actually got into a fight because I was taking pics of other guys asses, I was like hello don't you see all this pocket art and had to convince him it was all about the clothes, duh anyone who knows me knows all I care about is clothes...and shoes and bags and jewelry.

Purple plaid and beanie, I am usually a beanie hater but this one is cute.  He matches, of course, so well.  I like purple thats why I took this, it is usually such a girly color but I guess he doesn't mind, obviously he thinks he is man enough to carry it off.  I am still on the fence about whether I agree.

This is my favorite pic of the whole trip, this guy with the scarf totally inspired me to wear my scarf like him all day the next day.  I always have to give props to monochrome outfits and he just looks so cool.  And it is ok to wear sunglasses when you are going to the casino even if it is dark outside the inside is so lit up all the time and also they hide your tells when you are playing poker.  He and his friend are totally chic - I looked everywhere for that scarf but couldn't find one.

I just loved her shoes (Fendi I think) and her skins, and with a sumptious leather shoulder bag she just looks totally luxurious.

I found so many cute girls in cute ankle boots, it was black booty heaven, anyway love the all white and black look with the perfect shot of color in that little yellow clutch.

He looks like the country boy who has just landed in the big city, but I think he did that on purpose.  If he really worked on a farm I'm sure this look wouldn't be so polished - Those timbalands were everywhere, are they still in b/c they were cool forever ago.  They must be a men's classic that never goes out, like black pumps for girls.  I imagine they are the foundation for every hip hopper and thugish ruggish shoe wardrobe.

Aren't you jealous of his amazing sound system.  I wonder who works it when he is driving, I think the only reason he did this was so he could sit in the street and show it off to passersby so we would all know how rich he is.  Aren't you impressed, I am impressed that he got his car in here b/c we tried for hours to drive up to our hotel but every street was blocked off for the dangerous pedestrian traffic all over the French quarter.

A prepster! Almost, just missing a few key elements like that hat should face forward to complete to the look.  I like this color combo though, red and black and white with dark denim is the kind of classic look that makes me crazy.  He is matching up a storm here, that tie and that hat and those shoes, the stripes are such a nice attention getting touch that is not obviously for show.  Wonder if those glasses are real?  this is a different geek chic look than what we saw all over the NERD concert, it is more streety geek but still with a great sense of color.

Rhinestones and diamonds and gold teeth...Oh My!  This guy was blinging up the whole block, I had to get him just for his sparkle factor.  I am sure if he knew I called it that he would not have let me snap his pic, but that is exactly what it is.  I think guys who wear rhinestones need a mirror check like from someone that they trust - Hey man rhinestones are for girls!  DUH.  hold up am I being close minded?  No I think I just want to keep all the sparkles for myself.

Is that Lil Wayne!?  I seriously must have asked myself that same question a zillion times this weekend, all the black dudes want to look like him, and the only way I can tell it is not Wayne is because there are no gross face tattoos, go on and get some if you are that obsessed.  The real reason I took this pic was for the cute plaid dress, I think it was chiffon which is so hot, perfect with her little red peep toes. such a sucker for an ultra almost indecent mini.

Everyone knows how to match these days.  I couldn't walk five steps without seeing someone matching their shoes to their hat to their shirt.  I wonder if they just pick their favorite color and always buy that one so they always match or maybe they have units that they wear all together in a million different colors.  Then you can't wear everything with everything which is key to a well done wardrobe, it doesn't really make sense to me to always have everything match exactly.  You know I am into a cohesive whole where each piece was not obviously bought to match the others.

This is another matcher, here in blue.  Obviously it is standard to match your shirt to your shoes to your hat. I think Blue and black are usually a pretty good color palette for an outfit.

Matching is obviously a big thing for the hip hop style community, this chick didn't want her face on the blog in case anyone at work or school recognized her behaving badly on Bourbon street, you can tell here how freakin' crowded it was at night, like a great big fashion parade of all one genre.  Very overwhelming but still great people watching, just be into thuggish ruggish street style when visiting NO.  Anyway she matches a little much but in the context of New Orleans where this is a religion purple and leopard with a little black vest are a good combination.

I never wear tennis shoes but am a sucker for pink and purple, I like this tomboyish combo of high tops with skinny jeans I keep seeing everywhere.  If you are'nt brave or experianced  enough to wear your highest heels in the rain, like some of us, then I suppose this is a cute alternative.

Love this all gray ensemble, she really makes it work for her.  I could tell that these were not luxurious clothes but her fit and cut is right on and that makes all the difference and I love the final flourish of her shiny black booties, maybe a little less cleavage next time but still a good combo.

a view of Bourbon towards Canal, so you known the barren fashion landscape these looks are coming from.

Here is another view of Bourbon street, just want y'all to get a feel for the scenery.  It is all bars bars bars, a lovely place to live if you are a drunk.

she is such a good dresser I didn't even notice that she was combining black and brown which is the only way to wear it, I think she is surely not a local.  This is a great look if you have a good pair of boots and a very skinny pair of jeans, just don't let them bunch too much.  Remember those super expensive boots we all bought two years ago and called them an investment that would never go out of style, its time to pull them out again and don't forget to thank this Asian chicken for reminding us.

Facial hair is fashion and just ignore that crude tee, pink hair is so in right now that it is actually kind of over but this is New Orleans.  This is definitely a style statement but it looks a little grown out, he has roots on his beard. if you are going to do a look this dramatic and high maintenance keep it up, no one looks good with half inch roots no matter who it is.  I do admire his devil-may-give-a-you-know-what attitude though - rock on pinkeee.

gorgeous stripper girl, had to get her pic and she caught me and motioned me over, I am fascinated with stripper style, I think it is definitely its own fashion subculture.  First thing that caught my eye was her crazy leg laces and she was a friendly stripper so she was nice enough to pose for me.

Here she is in full effect, love that she is taking inspiration from the street with that cute little vest which I so bet she wears unbuttoned over a white tee when she isn't working.  I love her low rise mini black boyshorts obviously very sexy, then she has those bands right below her ass that make it jiggle double time, don't ask me how I know this. Can you imagine strolling the sidewalk in those heels, they are vertiginous if I do say so myself, at least 9" with a 3" platform - damn she deserves admiration for strapping those babies on each day, she didn't know this was for a fashion blog.

Just one of many crazy sex signs I saw, the boys thought this one was the grossest so of course I had to bring it to you.

Isn't this sign scary, it looks like a spooky witch doctor lives here and only people who can read voodoo are welcome to knock, I do recognize the word bones though - very creepy.

Is this the ghost of Kurt Cobain?  It looks like he is at least inspired by the Cobain haircut then he got into the neon finger paints, as if he wasn't already making a statement.  Love that DIY leather jacket and I would've gotten the back for you guys but he seemed a little bit, uh...disgruntled at being asked to stop for a silly picture, anyway customization is a key element in every good wardrobe.

This guy was just hanging on the corner, I think the jeans are a little balloonish which emphasizes his all over cartoon quality.  I think it is crazy to see a possibly scary dude chillin on a corner like a criminal wearing a cheerful rainbow shirt.  He also has the matching game down until you look at his tennies, and what is that bandanna for do you think...that is a detail I saw everwhere this weekend.

Not the first time I've seen a hat like this but have to take a pic everytime.  It is a very brave fashion move to put this on and wear it seriously, even if it is raining like crazy.
