At Work!

SOOO sorry i have been gone for so long, anyone out there who actually reads this thing.  I have been looking for and found a new jobbie which I started.  I was actually unable to find any inspiring fashion that i wanted to put on here until I started my new job where I found so much inspiration I might have to extend this thing into two posts.  anyway, sorry for being a bad blogger but now I will have some cash to rock my wardrobe a little harder and i promise one of these days I am gonna do an outfit post with all these pics I have stacked up...until then here are the fabulous customers and employees of Blackbird Trading Co.!  hooray!

so this is a guy that actually works at fashion recycler next door but the stores are connected so he let me take his pic, i think he is th best skinny jean rocker i have seen in awhile.  obsessed with the black skinnies and black ankle boots, i have been doin this look for weeks myself.  and i am guessing they are womens jeans given they are super snug but he wears them so well so lets not judge.

super cute girl i found among the rounders, doesn't she look like a sweetie.  I love her tucked in tee with the floral pouf skirt and those little golden ballerinas are so leg lengthening, she also has a chain strap bag strung across if you look closely.

dude I found outside american apparel that is down the street, totally committed a small fashion crime there the other day so you can bet i am gonna try and stay outta there from now on.  anyway i am loving all the gold hardware on this dude wearing black keds lookalikes.  it was pretty dark to be sporting such dark shades but he is obviously some celeb in disguise right?

and check this do I haven't seen one like it since the mid nineties, look at the chain wowee its a thick one.

omg is hanson back?  this guy is rocking the hanson look to an extreme, but i always for some reason i do not know have to take pics of guys in white car shoes, don't his look cool with these ripped jeans and the sporty jacket.

cute girl in those jazz shoes. I have thought about investing in a cheap pair for myself but haven't felt the urgent need to have them.  what do you think, are we convinced that we need some jazzy oxfords?  i don't know....

another way cool headband that i wish was mine.  i bet she made this at camp or something, shes totally a youngster to be looking so cool.  the fashion in this town gets younger and younger...or maybe im just getting older, hmmm...

cute shoes that i see all over the internet for hundreds of dollars, these are from some place called agaci, ive heard of it but never been in...for some reason i think i spend less if i stay out of cheap fashion stores and jsut concentrate on the big buys...does that make sense??  only in my fucked up little world where my closet and my bf are my universe.

two teenage asian kids that were veeery suspicious of my intentions with this foto....i tried to tell them i liked their outfits but they seemed to think i was making fun...they look so funky fresh though don't you think.. look at that hair and those color combos, rockin it man.

the cutest girl who has come in yet, i sold her 3 vintage dresses and she is the only one who has come in and been able to make those dresses look hot, i think bc she is soo well proportioned and tall. isn't her style fun though, i have a fetish for moccasin boots too.

omg this guy and his friends tried to steal some shot form our store!  take  a good look houston and don;t let this guy into your life or he will steal your shit!  still i did like his outfit.  they tried to dart out the store into a waiting car but our heroic next door fashion recycler friends saved the day and caught them off gaurd so they dropped the stuff. phew, exhausting sunday i must say.

cool punk kids that came in to sell some leather shit.  had to take this b/c anyone wearing head to toe black and giant stretched earlobes counts as a fashion risk taker and i admire that shit..also check out those boots man they are soo hardcore.  no zippers just thirty minutes of laces and buckles everytime.

finally hte mannequin i dressed at the end of the night.  doesn't he remind you of john travolta in a rhinestone cowboy/saturday night fever moment.  that jacket is soo cool, its like a shearling trucker jacket with grey suede on the outside.  i love a little grey on grey on and htis guy is very secure so he can wear plenty of pink and baby blue!  ill do the rest of worky pics tomorrow or soon after so check back soonish.

GO 2009!

so the first place we went on NYE was a total fashion bust except for a couple of girls, one that I already knew.  I was feeling very antsy b/c there was no fab nye fashion like there obviously should be and was super relieved to go to this dive across the street and find a horde of lumberjack emos to take pics of, check it out and let me know if you ever want to wear plaid again.

This is Sovie, I was soo excited to run into her b/c I knew of course she had on something gorgeous, I shop with her at gregory's and she has guided me through some of my most important top dollar purchases. Love your winter floral Sovie and those boots are the kind that men are afraid of and make other girls jealos.

See what I mean, soo amazing, the heel is just a very narrow steel spike.  I think they are Aliaia...swoon!

And this is her unbelievable bag, where on Earth did she get this cuz I haven't seen it anywhere else or on any real humans ever...I was so pumped to see the giant fendi clutch in real life, but I was wondering what she was doing with the brown and where was that gorgeous buff colored one that was all over the mags.  still this outfit is a killer, watch out!

Another cute girl at the first bar, I thought I was seeing things b/c the landscape had been so barren for the first hour at least, I stalked her down in the corner.  Don't you love a leather dress, I so do!

And these shoes, they look hotter in the other pic, but a metallic buckled gladiator sandal makes my heart go pitter pat.  good pedi too!

SO this was across the street at the place called Warren's inn, I felt like an imposter on their little fun group singalong thing.  I guess they were all with the band or something but don't they look like they are having the best fudging time, yeah they do! lumberjack emo crew to the max.

the cutest girl in the room, she looks like a superstar dont you think?  I love the all black with butterscotch boots mixture, very hot. and then a leather jacket and an acid yellow clutch, she was my fave.

Lumberjack Beatles!!  aren't they cool, I love the beret on that one black and white checked guy.  berets don't usually make my lists but this one so does.

cute couple, check out that murse, hes got more stuff in there than I have in my bag. and nice desert boots too, what do you think about her hair color, its like a very close match to her shirt..is this a good thing, i don't really think so and I hate her beret she looks like she is trying to copycat the guitar guy.

another lumberjack boy, love these cropped trousers and the little black hat, very fashion of him.  but he like all these guys looks like he just rolled out of bed and picked this up off of his floor.  they are so cool and effortless, I was really impressed to find such a tight knit crew of fashion subgenre, and especially after that boring old pearl it was soo refreshing.

soo cute, these girls are adorable.  I especially like her little neckerchief in the bright green, you would never guess it was new years eve from this picture, they are so down playing their celebration outfits and I think they really make it more of a rockn'roll aesthetic.  and the band was pretty good too.

another cute girl in that droopy target sweater, she was wearing an all black ensemble that you cant see here, but it was black strappy tank and black leggings with caramel boots and the droopy on top.  very simple and totally everyday for a new years celebration.  way to ring it in with style.

this is one of my favorites, normally I would totally rip this shit apart but I think she looks so sweet.  how on earth she is pulling off prairie boots with a tulley ballerina party dress is beyond me but she surely does it well.  I am thinking it is all in her sweet little doormouse personality.

don't you love his hat?  I told you they were lumberjacks, now all he needs is an ax and can't you just hear him shouting "timber!"  I can, I hate that too small white button down tho, and the murse seems a little mini for this husky fellow.  what about those chops jesus, facial hair is fashion, don't forget...they match the flaps on his plaid furry hat.

cute girl that was with us, she finally took off her coat and i liked what she had going on underneath. too bad about the freezing temp that night cuz I really would have liked to show off my christopher kane inspired paillete party dress, but too bad I rocked the beave all night instead.  anyway why am I praising a babydollish dress with mary janes??  bad shoes but they go with her overall girlish concept.  what I really liked about this dress was the color and the length - supershort - and the combo of a grey satin on a chiffony grey pleating.  nice work on the sleeves too.

grey must have been the color of the night, she looks hot and very skinney...do you think this is a borrowed dress or she bought it oversized, b/c it falls straight down from her ribby chest makes me think she should be a size down but I like they way this one hangs so I give her props for playing with proportion, and I like they beaded detail at the front...hate the shoes though, pretend she is wearing a high ass heel.

Some cool rock that I still love, just wanted to update y'all on what a jumpsuit is supposed to look like, go for that elvis look!  also I die for that huge mean ass belt buckle and that lovely fringe and his hot pink hair, guess he had soo much style that a bulimia/drug problem was the so sad conclusion,  does anyone else miss the darkness like fucking crazy??  maybe off the goth note a little but hey you can do studs and rhinestones together right? any man who wears a flowery crown as well as erin wasson has a got it goin on in my book and i'm so digging that axl inspired "HUH!"

I am obsessed with glamour metal right now, its got that dark glamour that I am always in search of, even if they are outfitted in white and neon. metal = dark, darkness = glamour! whew what a fabulous equasion, knew I remembered a little math from those stupid calc classes. makes me want to put a feather in my hair!! and hey just ignore that his mouth doesn't quite match up to the wordies, how can that possibly matter while wearing a very cool see throughish blue leopard print!?

ok if you have stuck with it this long you are a true champ, here is another its live and it is probably the best jumpsuit of them all, an awesome string tied pink and white contraption that probably required the help of a few bandmates to get into. i am loving the lace up back, gorge!! justin hawkins you are my glam rock hero, i wish I were you so I could wear elvis style jumpsuits everyday for serious rockn'roll business.

Pre Christmas Revelling

so though I abstain I still had to go out as much as possible in the few days before merry merry xmas, and these are the fruits of all that abstinent partying. several of these Houstonians look super fly and a few of them are going to take the brunt of my post christmas blues...

she looks fabulous, way to work the chocolate suede boots and ombre pashmina off her skin tone, super marvelous.  and I love that woven belt which looks smashing against her tan cashmere (one hopes) sweater.  I have the feeling that she works this color scheme alot because they are the colors of her Gucci tote bag.

this is one of pashmina's friends, I didn't ask him to take this as I don't usually ask for a don't.  his pinstriped jacket has an egyptian immortality theme in quilting, so fing ridiculous I don't know why boys insist on embellishing an already standout garment with rhinestones or stupid quilty embroidery, leave the sparkles and the embroidery to the chicks unless you want all of them to think you are a touch fruity.  so emasculating really, why do boys want to dress like us these days girls? 

well that is obviously way to much christmas cheer for one man, this is a christmas sweater cardigan and the only excuse he can possibly have to be wearing the ugliest thing in his mom's closet is a christmas sweater party...but still that doesn't quite give him the right to turn up in midtown looking like a tranny elf several days before the holiday.  wish i hadn't witnessed this one but its such a riot I couldn't help myself, lucky I got the pic b/c I nearly fell over laughing, note the upturned angle of the shot. 

loved this outfit, I bolted out the door after her, she is working her layers to maximum effect with my favorite winter bottoms, super black opaques and I dye for those scrunchy black boots with the little wraps.  I adore that she is doing a floral shirting thing in mid winter and matching her cami to the maroon in the button up, this says to me "I have a huge closet and i'm not afraid to use it all to create a cohesive look."  The real crowning flourish is the amazing winter white jacket which was sort of a cropped bomber in an amazing thick wooly textile, should have gotten a close up of that jacket damnit.  I think b/c of the obvious quality and cut she makes the cropped thing that is so old look new again.

you know how I go crazy for a sparkly dress.  i just hate that beauty queen pose she pulls and maybe its my fault bc when people ask me what I want them to do I just say "be yourself" or stick my hip out and throw my hand on it as an example, obviously I need to learn a little about posing my subjects.

two hot babes!  I wanted the bangs bc they are so rock and she wouldn't take a pic by herself, too insecure in front of my silly snapper - shocking for such a good looking girl- so I asked my gf lisa to jump in and keep her company.  Normally I never put my friends in but don't you think lisa is so chic in tweed and those are kangaroo cowboy boots from australia, very nice.  I also love the shiny black leotard pants on bangsy and her silky flowy ivory top, so smooth with a nice pair of shiny black flat boots...if you like flat boots, which I don't.

oops I blurred this one but it was in a dark and dank dive on memorial that no one should ever take pictures of, had to get this simple ensemble though. I love her stovepipes with tan boots and the grey sweater has the most amazing puffy sleeve detail thing going on.  Just a look that is created out of the most basic of colors and garments that are perfectly fetching and chic, she was definitely the best dressed in the bar, not counting me of course.

what a rockstar, this is karoake night action from midtown.  I love this guy's look expecially the cropped navy peacoat which is a totally well updated classic cut and color and his tan brogues with the little bumpy toe are too cool.  boys in Houston don't usually pay this much attention to the details of their wardrobe so he is special...the fact that he was singing justin timberlake has absolutely nothing to do with this. 

nice floppy sweater, could not let this chick get away cuz i actually bought that sweater at target and returned it the same day b/c I didn't like the saggy thing it did around the booty area.  she looks cool in it though and miraculously there doesn't seem to be a saggy booty problem with hers, or it could be that I am distracted by the checkerboard of her Louis.  I have often wondered why people buy that round topped shape, isn't it hard to carry and get into and stuff...hmm

Super hot looking girls at a sushi place, aren't they so fresh and so chic. I like both of these outfits, on the left is a cool tunicy top that I think was a golden lurex type of thing and i have love for all things sparkly - except on guys, duh - and the right is a floaty (probably cotton but who notices these things when you are hungry for sushi) drapey sweater thing that I love over a tee. and both are wearing darkish denim and black knee boots.  I bet they are barely legal, they give that brand new drinker vibe to me but still they rock those drinkin outfits.

so I wanted to take a pic bc I thought she was in a bright white fur, kinda like that chloe badger coat that I have seen somewhere in my internet shopping haze, but was disappointed to find an old abercrombie style cropped flight jacket thing that is so hideous Im actually embarrassed for her. I mean she is cute and awfully tan for this time of year but girlfriend that jacket is begging for incineration.  first off this one is obviously from the childrens abercrombie and doesn't fit correctly, im surprised she got the zipper up that far and there is just way too much elastic to make this an actual article of clothing for outerwear purposes, burn that shit dude - or donate at least if you can't bring yourself to set all that elastic on fire.

so much better, love a fab black leather jacket...or almost any leather jacket for that matter as long as it fits nicely like hers does and it doesn't squeek or crackle when you touch it which hers didn't cuz I tried.  I of course love the inky black legs and her white flowy top with hazelnut boots serve as a perfect background for her great jacket to stand out on.  good job moto chick, and don't you love her mini quilted bag, maybe not a chanel but we can overlook this.  

so I thought this was a unique piece and I am always super excited to find another person wearing fur, as it is usually tall ass me and no one else, so I took this then looked at it a few days later and was like wtf. that is the most hideous dead animal turned into clothes that I have ever seen and it is probably a vintage fire hazard and a disaster waiting to happen..hope she didn't get too close to those gassy space heaters bc that would be scary.  do like the winter white slouch boots, but nothing can redeem her from this beast.

such a cute girl, of course the sweetest looks I find in the villy belong to the people that work there and not the shoppers.  she is from urban and I dig her cut offs over tights look as that is what I have been working all winter.  aren't these tights fab though I love the stripery with those black boots and black long sleeve tee she is perfection.

mad for plaid!  jk, but not really plaid is hot. another villy worker, this one is from Half price books where the uniform code must be to dress like a kooky professor or you are out.  I asked him about his purple leg warmers and where he got them and his super cool answer was "here and there."  totally sums up the feeling of this look don't you think? 

ugh a fake!  don't buy fake bags they fund terrorism and child abuse and all sorts of horrible lowlife scummy things, as well as hurting the brands of our beloved fashion houses.  This is such a terrible example too, no quilting and it has magnets on the underside of the flap, the size is all wrong and I don't think karl would forget which c goes over which ever.  yuck, 6 months in max security fashion jail where you have to read every dior and chanel coffee table book over and over until you die of blood loss from paper cuts!

another offender trying to work too much look at once. I took it b/c I liked the shine off the boots and have some kind of fetish for lace tights but have decided that to wear lace tights you need to make them the focus of your look, keep the rest simple with no embellishment bc your lovely legs are on display in a splendid lacy manner.  her thing has too much going on top and on bottom, yeah I hope she never repeats this outfit. 

so simple and so perfect, love the chunky ribbed tights dissappearing into the shiny black booties and the red is just the right pop to offset her basic pieces.  this is the way to succesful dressing, choose a standout piece then make it rock by surrounding it with the most classic and well cut garments you have..take a note yall

nice hip hopper in the gally, cool plaid and some sky blue shoes with yellow laces in the mens department at neimans.  crazy that he was shopping their sale as I was too and finding lots of girly things for myself instead of for the rockstar boyfriend.  anyway i like his glasses and the perfectly worn in astros cap, so much nicer than a stiff brimmed trucker hat heavy with embroidery and ugh.. rhinestones.
